If you didn't catch the news in the announcements section of this forum, well - here it is again:

Hey everyone! The MOB is back in business. Unfortunately, members will have to sign up all over again but that's a minor inconvenience when you can draw to your hearts content once again! Wo-hooo!! Cool

All the previous images from the following boards will be placed in the Oekaki section of this forum: Contest, 11-Stars, and MOB Favorites. Also, we now have a new address for the Oekaki. Please update your bookmarks!

Go to Oekaki NOW!!!

...Btw, anyone interested in holding an Oekaki contest? Previous contest holders would choose the theme for the contest, when it begins and ends, plus the prize generally is a custom artwork from the contest holder (or if you got stuff to give away, that's cool too). If you would like to hold a contest, please post in this thread Oekaki Contest Anyone?

Anyways, have fun!

*******************************

I've been asked what certain things are and here, I'll make some explanations.

What is an Oekaki?
Oekaki means doodle in Japanese but generally, it refers to a drawing program that can be loaded on your browser. You can draw on it like a regular drawing program. It includes drawing tools, layers, palettes, and other features.

When you're done with a drawing, you can upload it so that others can view and comment on your work of art.

How do you sign up for it?
Since missjtsang gave a wonderful explanation, I'll just qoute her here:

- image
- Register an account (red bar at the top is the menu)
- "Draw" (from the menu at the top)
- resize image by changing the numbers and clicking the "resize" button
- Choose either Shii painter doodle or Shii PainterPro doodle (I prefer the simple one Very Happy)
- draw your picture
- look at the top left of the blue canvas outsides
- click "upload"
- tick "save picture for later" if the image is unfinished so you can finish later
- if you are finished, choose a room, write a comment and hit submit Wink

The Meaning of "H"

"H" is short for a Japanese term called silly goose which is basically silly goose or sexually explicit images. Basically, if your drawing is tasteless - it's being deleted and you'll be banned for an indefinite time period.

*****************************

I'd like to announce the new mods for the Oekaki, this section of the forum plus the MOB: chihiro923 and kupocake! They're regulars in the MOB and quite proficient with the whole ShiiPainter and everything so if you have any questions, feel free to ask them by posting here or PMing them.

And if you give them flack, they have my permission to ban you so be nice, eh? Wink

**********************

Please welcome another new mod for the Oekaki section: Hakushin_Ryouga. He's fairly new but a regular and quite the lady's man from what I hear (okay, that last part was a joke and I just wanted to see if you were paying attention ^_~ ). If you have any concerns, questions, he'll be there along with chihiro923 and kupocake to help you.

Btw, his membername here in the forum is J_Hibiki, so if you see him talking to you, be nice. Wink

The rooms are as follows:

Doodle Room
If you're new to MOB, to drawing an Oekaki, or would like to try out new painting techniques, then this is your place! This is the room for those who just want to have fun with their drawings. No time requirements. Take as long or as short a time as needed.

Common Room
This room is for those who have created artwork that is a tad shy of the 11-Star Room but is better than Doodle Room quality. This is for the serious artist who is striving to improve their skill. Recommended minimum time spent on drawing: 30 minutes.

11-Star Room
For the meticulous artist who is willing to put time and effort into their artwork. An oekaki drawing entered into the 11-Star Room must exhibit at least one quality that separates the advanced artist from the novice. Required backgrounds must show decent effort and should complement the figure(s). Recommended minimum time spent on artwork is still ONE hour, but that alone does not guarantee if an oekaki piece deserves the room. Any drawing in this room shall be treated like an art piece in a gallery.

Oekaki Contest
Contests held by fellow Oekaki members. Anything goes in the contest from Western themed drawings to manga shorts. The prize is an exclusive drawing from the contest holder. To become a contest holder, please post your interest in the Oekaki Contest Anyone? thread in the forum.

I've installed the Oekaki Board using a new program. Each room is now separate from each other. You only need to register once to access all rooms. You must be registered to draw or comment.

Avatars are possible; max size: 60x60px.

Multiple people can now draw on the same oekaki image. You can either set your image as public where any member may then edit it or set a password on your drawing and then give that password to whomever you want to collaborate your artwork with.

There is also an "adult image" option for those who are interested in drawing racier works. If you are going to draw this, be sure you mark is as adult which will then close up the image to all except those who choose to view them. (You can set this in your profile)

You need java to use the Oekaki Board. Be sure you have it installed before you register. If you are still having trouble, go to the FAQs page which is available in every room.

You can also animate in all the rooms. Be sure you check the animation button when you start your drawing.

Minimum canvas size: 50x50
Maximum canvas size: 500x500

Last but not least, enjoy!! C:

Each room now have their own unique look. This way, you won't get confused as to which room you're drawing in. C:
