note that i did say "this is kind of stupid (well ignoring the idea that you won't know if a manga is popular when/if it ends so why wait to make your money?)" in otherwords, it's stupid in a "making a faithful animated adaptation of a series" way, but smart in a "let's making some cash" way. to paraphrase what you said earlier; businessman don't understand art, they only understand money.

The deal is money.

Mangas and comic books don't gave to much money, and making an anime of a popular comic make money, especially if you use cheap animation and budget.

Everything is money.

Well the art sucked in YuYu Hakusho, but since the crew provided excellent animation, the anime was really amazing. In opposition to that, I enjoyed reading FMA rather than watching it, but that's just me. This really could reach two ends for me...Give me a moment...
