Not us. We've been working on the same thing for like 20 years.

I'm thinking about adding a soft guitar solo to the end of this as a calming device or something but I'm just too lazy. Criticism would be very highly appreciated.

It sounds kind of all over the place so you might want to work on structure a bit.

Since we're back near Chicago for winter break, we headed to CPE Sound again, but this time with a set of drum mics...two recordings resulted:

Demo of 'Called Back to the Grave' - so, the guitar wasn't loud enough and it was kind of crunchy-sounding, and my attempts to increase guitar volume made this super crunchy, but I guess it sounds sorta cool.

Cover of Black Sabbath's N.I.B. - borked up the middle solo =/

I don't really like the guitar tone man. What is your brother using to get that sound.

For those two tracks, it was a passive Les Paul copy through a Mesa Triple Rectifier (of some sort), but I'm pretty sure the gain was way too high.

Yeah, basically - the deal with CPE is that they have a big venue-style soundboard in each practice room and a couple instrument/vocal mics... so I bought a 7-piece drum mic set and a couple mixers for it - we then mic'd up the set and mic'd his guitar, sending it all into a Tascam DR-7 as one stereo line in, but it seems like we had the gain rolled up too far on basically everything, so it came out super crunchy. To be honest I don't really know what I'm looking for when it comes to recording drums.
