Does anyone on here have a Premium DeviantArt account? If so, is it worth it? dA sure makes it look like it's a good idea, but... I dunno, it sort of feels like a gimmick that's completely not-worth it.

That's all it really is. It's a good idea if you sell a lot of prints or care about pageviews more than anything.

Not necessarily. People aren't going to comment more just because they see you paid money to the site.

Mmmmm. They do seem to be more popular though. More people go to see you more people will comment (in theory). Also, they have a request a critique thing...

So do it. If nothing else, get a one month membership and see if you like it. The last time I was a premium member was a couple years ago when someone gifted it to me. I wasn't impressed with it enough to buy it again, but there weren't as many features to the paid membership as there are now. I just looked it up and it actually looks pretty okay. Still not something I'd spend money on, but not too bad a deal.

premium account dosnt do much i dont think, it just gets rid of adverts and lets you use journal skins, i had it for a few months and couldnt be bothered to pay anymore :/ that was years ago though they might have made it better

atm i think its still on a deal where if you buy someone a subscription you get the same one for yourself free so if you want on just buy someone you know one or something if the deal is still going (it expires tomorrow)

if you want more critiques you can just put in the comment "want critiques" or something
theres also a group that is full of people who critique stuff, the more you help comment on other peoples work the more people will comment on yours, ill link it if i can find it on my DA

Yeah, joining group pages seems to be the way to go if you want more critiques (I'm thinking of doing the same myself.)

I personally don't think it's worth it. Why bother if it's fine free? I couldn't care less about fancy skins, if the site's easy enough to manage without the frills. :/ Might save you some $ if you think that way.

After Deviantart made the switch to the newer versions, it's not worth it at all. I had it before (a gift) every member could see comments, watched artwork and such through their message center. It was then more worthwhile. When they switched to everyone having those features, it's not worth it anymore. It's too pricey.

Too expensive? It's 8 Bucks for 3 months... Im thinking I'll gift it too someone (if the deal is still on for the give one get one) and see how I like it.

Unless you use DA a lot, sell prints, do lots of commissions, making lots of poll and costumized journals, and active in managing/creating/founding groups, there's nothing much in having premium membership.

I had a premium membership some months ago (prize for winning a contest). It was fun... but it's not a necessity since you're not missing that much.
