So this forum is closing. What do you guys think about this? Do you want to go to the new forum? Are you going to miss this forum?

In the personal I have little interest in the new forum: most of the cool people don't come to MT to anymore, I don't have any kind of interest for most MT members, and I just want to draw. So if I go to stay in the new forum I would be probably more focus in drawing, making some challenges (draw more), and start uploading some unfinished works (draw even more). And if I'm in the mood do a skype (always when there is no retarded person).

And yeah, I'm not going to gave criticz in the new MT. People who want criticz (and I have no problem to gave them) can ask me throught msn.

"Why not?" is an equally valid question. This is primarily an art site and the new forum leans more toward the purpose of building a strong community of artists. TBH, I think that's just fine. Not that non-artists matter less, considering there is much more to MT than just drawing; but, honestly, let's not lose sight of what this website is about.

The new forum suits me just fine. I don't like how it LOOKS (which is easily amendable), but everything else is okay in my book. The crit-intensive Artist Alley is particularly nice, IMO. We have a pretty crit-intensive GB so this is a complement. Besides, a forum is made of the people who populate it. If you all just move over to the new one, you have old MT. So what's there to complain about again?

And please don't say "newbies" because, compared to some members, a lot of the "oldbies" here are "newbies" and I can still barely tolerate them.

This is where you are wrong cyp, this is not primarily a art site, it is primarily a fan basis of anime site that simply has a section for just showing off things you have drawn. In all honesty this site sees no respect in a art community because of its very basis being manga and anime (hence the name MANGATUTORIALS). For this to become a primary art site, rio would have change the whole content of the site.

I won't talk on the new site ritiqing because honestly, I haven't bothered to visit it much.

lolwut.

And just because we are a community of relatively mediocre artists in a less-than-appreciated medium doesn't mean we aren't artists, nor that what we produce is not art. Anyone who approaches art, which is extremely liberal, with such stupid and unfounded prejudices as "manga isn't art" is contradicting the essence of art themselves, so I have no respect for their opinion. Still, that doesn't make this NOT an art site. Do you ever walk into a modern art museum, see some crappy drawings of multicolored shapes imposed on a black canvas and think "this is not an art museum"? Of course not. I think they're crappy, but that doesn't make it not art, nor the institution not an art museum. Besides, literally half the subforums on MT are art-related (Artist Alley, Drawing & Tutorials, Creator's Corner, etc.), with only 3 of the remaining 6 subforums being distinctly not-limited to art of some form (GD, A&M, Chatterbox). The other 3 are just compulsory subforums for welcoming members and support. Beyond that, there is a Groupboard, a gallery, an Oekaki and a slew of tutorials and subscriber-submitted work on the front page. So how can you conclude that this isn't an art site? Lol.

But that does bring up an interesting point: is our community SO non-art oriented now that people are actually misconceiving this as just an anime and manga forum? TBH, I think the new forum is the perfect solution for that.

I suggest you better reread what I typed, I called no one mediocre, I said no one wasn't a artist, so stop trying to play mr. intelligent and taking what I typed out of context. Guess what? Art is an extremely subjective and prejudice thing, if you don't know this than you are a idiot bottom line, not everyone respect every artform and only a fool would believe otherwise.

Do I what, something tells me you don't even know why they are there or even the style or era of art they come from, I could go into more of this but I know you and with you, this argument will just get repetitive and pointless, so I'm just going to end it here.

No, I said we're relatively mediocre (as a census of general art skill on the forum). And I never even suggested that you said we weren't artists. But you DID say the art world respects us very little: THAT is what I was addressing. Geez, man. And you're talking about me misreading your post. Lol.

And yes, art is extremely subjective. I do know that. That was actually my point. I never said you had to RESPECT every art form (in fact, I even ragged on abstract art in my post lol), I said that respect or a lack thereof doesn't determine whether or not something is art. Hence, even a lack of respect for this site and its content doesn't make it not an ART SITE. Does it make more sense now that I had to break it down for you?

Just because you took a couple drawing classes doesn't mean you can lecture me on art, d00d.

I don't like the new one because I like this one. 'Nuff said.
Not to mention the simplicity...I had to scour the earth just to find where to change my avatar on the new MT.

The new site needs a way to have private messages pop up.

Personally, I liked this old forum much better, but the new forum is just that: new. It'll take some getting used to. One of my two complaints is that you have to go in manually and check your messages every time you log in--there's no notification for me, who checks his email about once a month or less. I like the current "You have [x] new message[s]."

My second complaint is that you have to pay in order to get things that were free on this site, like the watered-down version of "view your posts." As half my posts are made on a home dial-up connection, that's a lot of needlessly time-consuming navigation.

EDIT:
@Jubeh - I agree. Or at least some kind of quick notification.

@ Matt
The forum PM is not enabled. If you want notifications on PMs, you have to go to your Dashboard. All PM notices are on the right. The system is a little different but if you just go straight to your My Messages section (Dashboard > My Messages) you will see a list of emails you received.

What are you talking about in regards to "view your posts"? As far as I know, there shouldn't be a problem with you viewing your post if you have a Free account. There is nothing in the forum that requires you to have a subscription in order for you to use any feature in the forum. More than likely, the forum just doesn't have that feature (i.e. it wasn't built into the forum) or it needs to be set in the forum settings. Anyways, if you don't mention them here, then it's a bit pointless for you to complain about it here.

Anyways, if you want to keep track of your posts, then go to Forum Actions > General Settings. Under the section that says "Messaging & Notification", click on one of the choices under "Default Thread Subscription Mode:". Whenever you get a reply back, you can either get emails, notices in your Control Panel or whatever. You can then go to Quick Links > Subscribed Threads and have a list of everything that you have subscribed to.

@ Jubeh
Like I mentioned, notifications don't pop up. The only way is to activate the forum PMs and have two separate PM systems running in the site which may confuse people.

Well whatever. We're manga artists joined together into an organized community. If we keep this road up, chances are thanks to this community, most of us will get a published manga. I really find it rather funny to get worked up over a new forum when we can still talk to each other and compare artwork, plots, etcetera. My new profound saying fits in here: community-wide, community-strong. As a community, we shall all advance toward our goals quite faster than we would without a community.

This is a bit optimistic, to be honest. I doubt most MT members will ever take art beyond a hobby. Some of them might, but most? Fat chance. Otherwise I agree with this post.
