List some artistic phases you went through or habits you picked up and why.

For instance, when I started drawing characters pretty much all of them had scarfs and bandanas because the first manga style character I ever drew was Crono from Chrono Trigger. I also went through a phase were all my characters had long elf-like ears after playing Zelda 64, and after seeing princess mononoke, few characters were left without having a scar somewhere.

Stuff like that.

It doesn't have to be art in particular, it could be habits in film, music, writing, anything really.

In third grade I would only draw secret agents because I though Kim Possible was awesome. Lol.

Then in fifth grade I would only draw furries.

In sixth grade I drew elves all the time but refused to call the elves for some reason. >.>

Now I just draw everybody facing viewer's left. |D

That is disturbing.

GO PRINCESS MONONOKE! BEST MOVIE EVER.

Ahem... Anyways, when i first started drawing manga I couldn't draw a character without a sword; I don't know exactly why.

Now, whenever I draw I have to change the eyes in each of my drawings, which isn't a bad thing, but it can look odd.

That is disturbing.

I still don't mind furries. I don't see what the big hangup is.

I used to draw girls with big boobs but their heads were bigger.

Then it turned to big-boobed girls with more proportional heads.

Then loliz.

Now girls with boobs again.

On a more serious note:

I would only draw girls with their hands behind their back when I was little.

I then went through a phrase later on that only involved drawing with a pen. The time of inking/lineart obsession.

Switched back to using color.

Now it's more like using different mediums and styles of art. :U

I'm in this particular phase where I actually use a reference.

Before you do a useless thread, see if someone else did that thread before.

That isn't the same thing, though. This is more about about habits, smaller details rather than the overall progression.

are you saying that small details are not a progression?

This is unrelated to the thread, but I loved Neopets when I was little. I think I still have a few hundred plushies and cards stuffed away in the back of my storage... Nostalgia is kickin in....

On a related note: I still draw girls and probably always will draw big-breasted girls. (Unless it's for art class or something...)

Related to my last post, most of the women I draw have an hour glass figure.
