Hey, JW what computer program would be best for art in great detail? BTW do you guys all draw with your mouse or should I invest in a professional drawing pad for my computer? One more thing should I begin my art on paper or go strait to the comp?

I used to doubt teh need for a tablet, but I got one and now I love it. Personally I do almost all my work on paper first then scan it in and go from there. I do plan to start doing some of my beginning sketches on the computer though to see how that goes. I believe a lot of artist work strictly on the computer now.

I draw only on the tablet because I can't draw on paper for some reason anymore.

I use Photoshop 7.0.

All versions of Photoshop cost money. I love it, but I'm very biased, since I've been using the program since I was 8-9 years old.

OK.. And Thanks, it sound's like a worthy investment. It will probably keep messes to a minimum as well. =D

If you buy Wacom Bamboo Fun, you'll also get a Photoshop Elements and Corel Draw. Not bad for a bundled software.

Computer program: Photoshop
It's the standard industry graphic software that everyone use. It is a very sound investment when you get one and once you buy one, you don't have to buy another one for awhile (well... assuming your computer doesn't die or something). If you cannot afford Photoshop, the poor-man's alternative <a href="http://www.gimp.org">GIMP</a>.

Drawing first or direct to computer:
Both but it doesn't matter what we do. What is best for you? What are you more comfortable in doing?

Tablet:
Tablets are worth it. It's better for your hand (i.e. it doesn't cramp) too.

I suggest you buy this. Cost me not that much. Corel Painter 11 and Photoshop Elements 6 are also included when you buy it
