I have a ton of trouble drawing perfectly symmetrical faces. Anyone else have this problem?
I draw a face, then turn the page around and look at it and it loooks like a foot!

I have the same issue. But i agree with Jacqueline, just got to practice. If you have photoshop you could try drawing half of the face then selecting and copying, flipping it then doing a little editing. If you don't then your only solution is practice.

I still have this problem from time to time. Try drawing the eye which you are not so good at first so the other won't so different. If not, just experiment on eyes that are simpler to draw.

If you do a digital drawing, then it's a piece of cake. Just make half-face, copy and paste it on another layer, flip horizontally, trace it.

Note: Don't just copy+paste it like that. It will looks strange. Even in reality, there are is no perfectly symmetrical human face. The more symmetrical, the more handsome you are... but if your face is perfectly symmetrical, you'll look like a monster!

For 3/4 side, you could flip the entire pics, and correct it if it looks strange.

I used to have this problem. What I did to get rid of it (mostly) was to draw the eyes at the same time so that in the end I didnt have to go to the other side and make it look perfectly like the one I just did. So I would start with the outline (eyelid and lashes) for the right then do the one on the left. Then I would do the eye for the right or left and then do the other side. Finally I would then fill in the pupil, iris, and all of that for the left or right and then do it for the other side.

Ofcourse you might have problems during the stages but it will be small problems you should be able to fix and then go to the next stage instead of having issues with multiple parts and having to fix them all. I urge you to try this way and if it feels more comfortable than what you were doing, use it but if it doesn't go back to what you were doing.

Always remember that practice makes perfect.

Just as long as it looks like a face, you're good. Some artists prefer to make sure the face looks like a face even if you flip it though so if you want to be that particular, then go and fix. Otherwise, it doesn't have to be perfect. Even mangaka's have that problem; it was most obvious when manga's were originally flipped and read from left to right rather than right to left like it is now.

Remember that even real human faces aren't perfectly symmetrical. It's true that the more symmetrical someone's faces, the better it is. But the paradox is that if the face is completely symmetric, he/she will become a monster.

Perhaps... I mean how about the texture? Usually they are snapped from real life person (or just drawn). So even the polygon is perfectly symmetrical, we couldn't see it with bare eyes.

My symmetry problem lies in the hair, since it always bunches to one side. Then again, that's just 'cause I'm a complete r-tard when it comes to hair.
