And maybe or daddies/other figures, too. But I like typing the word "mom" better, haha.

Anyway. What does your mom think about your art? Is she an artist? What are her views on "Those weird animu things"? Why kind of influence has she had on you and your work?

Can't say much for my dear mother when it comes to my art. My father and grandmother are a different story, though. My grandmother is an exceptional artist and has helped me out a great deal in regards to my own advancement in the artistic field. She doesn't really care for anime/manga, as she sees them as strange and outlandish. Can't say I disagree with her there, but she doesn't enjoy those kind of things like I do. My father has been very supportive like my grandmother. He won't hesitate to tell me how something looks either. Granted, my grandmother won't, but she doesn't tell it to me quite like my father does. My dear old dad can get my cracking up over a small error while getting me to recognize where I need to improve. He also likes some anime, so I'm not constantly getting my art criticized for being a certain style. All in all the two have been very helpful.

My mum likes my school art stuff but she sees it as a hobby and doesn't hesitate to try and convince me that it's not a career option and that I "could do so much better" :/

My mums... well.. i don't think she appreciates my art as much as she should :/ I'll show her a piece and she's like "this, this, and this is wrong" and then turn back around and start playing WoW again -_-... though she is supportive in the ways of me going to college for art and what not.. I've just lost the abitlity to make her go "omg that's awesome!!" ....

My dad wants me to be happy, or so he says. So he said if I'm going to pursue art, I better give it all I got. He might now like the anime characters I draw, but he knows eventually I will get into realism. I just don't know how yet. My sister is super supportive, but it feels like shes lying half the time just to make me happy hahaha. Oh well, I pretend not to notice it.

Here's another question. Is your parents not caring motivation? Like to prove em' wrong, to show them.

My mom doesn't really care about the style, she's just amazed by the fact that I can draw. She is happy that i'm going to try and make a career of it and so is my grandmother. My grandpa, on the other hand, who is a extremely talented painter, doesn't understand my anime-influenced style so thinks i'm probably going to crash and burn. I may love the man, but he can go suck something as far as my art is involved.

My parents doesn't support nor do they reject that I do art. It's just something I do. ...Though I think they'll have a heart-attack if I start drawing silly goose stuff. XD

@ shiny
I do art for myself. It doesn't matter to me if I have someone's approval or disapproval whether it's my parents, friends, or anyone else. If I get an approval from someone I regard, then it's like getting the cherry on top so to speak. Most of my motivation is from getting inspired by something, trying out new styles after seeing someone else's art, and just wanting to get better but never to prove myself to someone else.

My parents doesn't care, though my dad always told me don't always concentrated on school than drawing random stuff, or he'll throw away my tablet ;_; Both of my parents aren't interested much but my uncles are good in abstract kind of drawings. Besides my dad is an uber fan of Ultraman...

my dad used to support my art, he started hitting my mom, I started hating him, we started hating each other, he started just saying "yea that's cool" about my art

my mom is a huuuge part of my art, always has been and always will be, no matter what I'm drawing. I mean she still says things like "whoa that's different. Where was your head at??" but it's all good
