Manga Studio was cool, but I hated the trouble of zooming in and zooming out without having my tablet synced right. Doesn't help that I never found the manual.

*highfive* I'm with ya. No settings or lag or crashes in real life...ok maybe the occasional tipping of a cup full of Pepsi, or putting your awesome new drawing on a table that you didn't know had a puddle of water on it...

I love pencil and paper, but I usually hate using a pen. My very best drawings came from the traditional mediums--unpenned.

GIMP works on Linux, though, right?

it does, and i dont use that for drawing, i tried that one, and it didn't work all so well with a usb mouse

edit: it is just like photoshop, the gui is different, but I've made cooler things in gimp than photoshop

Gimp's a lot easier to work with for beginners. I've been using PS for a year now and I'm still trying to figure out some stuff.

The only thing it sucks at is doing line work.

Yes it does. I know everyone knows it already, so I'm not gonna say anything about SAI.

I've tried Mangastudio, but I don't like how the pen tool behave. Really really disappointing for a program that use a name Mangastudio.

Photoshop is good for editing/finishing touch, but I don't like the brush tool since I never be able to make the exact line I want.

Flash, in the other hand, is quite satisfactory. Crisp line art, easy cell shading color, and animation (and action script) as a bonus (if you see from pure drawing program POV). But it lacks any advance graphics editing feature (texture, blend/smudge).

I heard lots of artist use SAI and it's really good (if not the best) for making lineart (and later coloring it in Photoshop/Painter).

I can't figure out Gimp. I swear, the interface is so clunky! OTL Photoshop has a default clutter, but it's easy to fix and clear out of the way. D:

I think it depends on what you use first. Once you've used Gimp or PS for any amount of time, the other seems strange at first because everything is in a different place.

I tend to use both for different things.
